It was a warm summers evening, the campfire was dying down and everyone had been clearing away for the night. Then suddenly a bright white-blue light had appeared from behind the camp...
Beaming down out of the night sky, a light so strong it had illuminated the field as though it was mid afternoon. As the group turned to face the light, they had seen a dark object appear in the centre of the beam. It was incredibly large, so big it seemed unreal. It hovered at a great height, then in the blink of an eye the unidentified flying object (UFO) flashed and was there on the grass in front of them.
The spaceship beeped and a ramp appeared, shadows appeared in the doorway of the craft - they were aliens and they waved towards the camp. The group could hear their visitors speaking to each other, but it was not a language they recognised, it sounded like a digital, musical sound. As the group began to move closer to the spaceship to satisfy their curiosity and get a better look at the new camp guests, there was another beam of bright neon green light from the doorway. The whole shell of the spaceship then began to sparkle like a giant disco ball, then in a second it stopped dead and simply vanished!
Stunned and suprised, the Scouts and Guides then saw a small glowing object on the floor. On closer inspection, it was a computer, just like a PSP and on the screen there was a message which read...
"Greetings earth Scouts and Guides. We are your Scout and Guide neighbours from Deep Space. We live in a digital galaxy very different to yours. We want to be friends, to know how you live and most importantly come to your party. We bring much fun, but first you must find us. Our ship has gone, but we are not. Find us in your camp and we give you a Norjam experience you will never forget...Deep Space Style!"
Can you hunt the aliens in your subcamp and bring them to the party? Can you imagine how the aliens would speak, look or even dance? What other objects and skills do you think they might have? Would they take part in the same camp activities that you do? How would their camp songs sound? Join the Deep Space Subcamp at Norjam 2010 to find out!
