Centenary Wednesday – Norjam 2010 will be celebrating 100 years of Guiding.
Guiding has come a long way since a small group of girls stepped forward at the 1909 Boy Scout rally at Crystal Palace Park and asked Robert Baden – Powell to develop a similar movement especially for them.
100 years to the day, 1.2 million Girlguiding UK members and guests will be attending parties across the United Kingdom to mark this illustrious occasion and, in doing so, launch a year of Centenary Celebrations which will run from the 5th September 2009 to the 20th October 2010.
Members from all sections of Girlguiding UK, from Rainbows through to the Trefoil Guild are invited to locally organised Launch parties and, providing it is practical to do so, will be asked to bring a guest – someone who has previously made her guiding Promise but who is not currently a member of Girlguiding UK to come and take a fresh look at Girlguiding UK today.
Here at Norjam we will be celebrating the success of Guiding over the past 100 years, so come and enjoy the fun!
